This adventure begins in Windhoek. The perfect start to recover from long flights and to stock up for the journey whilst soaking up the unique Afro-German culture that abounds in this delightful city. Vehicles will be collected in Windhoek and a thorough tour briefing is given before the adventure begins.
Famed for the dry expansive salt pan, this park is a wildlife haven. Game viewing is spectacular. With large herds of zebra, wildebeest, elephant and many species of antelope and giraffe, morning and afternoon drives are an adventure. Lion, leopard, cheetah and black rhino are less common, but often seen.
From the dry expanse of Etosha, the Kavango region is quite different from what we have experienced in the greater part of Namibia. The Kavango river, which flows from Angola, brings life-giving water and minerals to the Okavango Delta. We will camp on the banks of the Kavango River.
Heading south from Ngepi, we cross the border into Botswana and journey around the western fringe of the delta to a camp right on the edge of this incredible wetland itself. Boat rides and fishing are on offer here. The birdlife is amazing in this part of the country.
The gateway to the Okavango Delta, Maun is ideally situated as a stopover point before the adventure gets wild! A night in a chalet and plenty of time to stock up for the next few days as we will be heading from here to very remote campsites in the bush.
Adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve, the woodlands and wetland of Khwai provides game viewing which is just sublime. Camps are wild and unfenced and elephants abound and wild dogs are often seen on tours to this area.
We drive through Chobe National Park to reach Savuti. The sand is thick and going is tough, but the big drive is worth it! Savuti is known for its unbeatable predator viewing along with the usual large herds of Elephant and other numerous general game. Expect roaring lions at night!
From Savuti we drive north towards the Chobe river and Kasane town, but we will break the journey of thick sand with an overnight stay at a bush camp en route to Kasane.
On the banks of the Chobe River, in the Botswana town of Kasane. Our last night in Botswana is on the edge of the river at the Magnificent Chobe Safari Lodge, where dinner will be enjoyed together after a spectacular sunset boat cruise on the game rich Chobe River.
From one magnificent river to another. The last 2 nights of this adventure are at the special town of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. There is so much to do in this safari town and our last evening is spent with a special cruise on the Zambezi River itself.
Connecting flights back to major international airports in South Africa can be made from Victoria Falls. Alternatively, onward travel to other safari destinations is easily arranged from here.
Starting in Windhoek, Namibia and finishing at the incredible Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, you will be hard pressed to find an adventure that offers more value than this. Thank you, Stew for a job well done! The planning was seamless and I know that doesn't happen without good attention to detail and a lot of effort.
Namibia is a magical country and self driving has to be the best way of experiencing it, but we couldn't have done it without you.
